General information About Municipal Elections

Municipal elections in Crapaud are held every four years, on the first Monday in November. The last municipal election was held November 7th, 2022 at which time a Mayor and 6 Councillors were elected for a 4-year term. Our community has an open system where by the 7 candidates receiving the most votes are elected.

MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT
PURSUANT TO SECTION 42 OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT,
AND SUBSECTION 25(1) OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION REGULATIONS

Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Rural Municipality of Crapaud that a Municipal Election will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 to elect the Mayor and 6 Councillors for the Rural Municipality of Crapaud for the term of office terminating on the 6th day of December 2030.

The nomination period for the council positions noted above opens on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 9:00am and closes at 2:00 pm on Nomination Day, Friday, October 16, 2026.

Nominations can be received at the election office at 20535 Trans Canada Highway, Crapaud, PEI COA 1J0 by the Municipal Electoral Officer (MEO) or Returning Officer at the following times:
• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 9:00am to 2:00pm
• Tuesday – 1:00pm to 6:00pm

Candidates are responsible for confirming their eligibility to be nominated prior to submitting their nomination form.

The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 am on Friday, October 16, 2026.
